John Cate
EVP and COO 

John Cate has worked in the industry for more than 20 years and offers expertise in traditional and digital media strategy and agency operations. As EVP and COO of Mediasmith, John oversees media management responsibilities and is a member of the Mediasmith Executive Committee.

John has expertise in integrating traditional and digital media, and has worked with a diverse array of clients, including packaged goods, enterprise technology, financial services, consumer electronics, and retail. His experience in operations includes revenue reporting, talent acquisition, organizational and service line design, pricing/compensation and revenue generation.

John previously held the role of EVP and General Manager for Carat/Aegis PLC. He has also been the VP Media Director for Leftfield PLC, TBWA Chiat/Day, Ketchum Advertising, and was Assistant Media Director for McCann Erikson.

John has a degree in advertising from San Jose State University.
