« Analytics Manager »

We are seeking an Analytics Manager to help build out our Multichannel Analytics function. The Analytics team is responsible for analyzing, reporting and evaluating both digital data (web, search, emerging technologies, social) and offline data in coordination with our media team. The goal of the Analytics function is to provide information that helps us build the best campaigns for our clients’ brands, measure the results and then revise strategies on an ongoing basis  As our Analytics Manager, your hats will include Web Analyst, Site Optimizer, Social Metrics Analyst, Database Marketer, Search Analyst, Market Researcher and Qualitative Analyst.

Requirements:

  • College degree
  • 4+ years experience in a campaign management role in the advertising/online media space
  • A passion for online advertising media and understanding how consumers interact with display advertising
  • Able to multi-task multiple client projects, work well under pressure and function in a cross-functional team environment—no lone rangers here!
  • Impeccable attention to detail, strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access power user for advanced charting, report creation, presentations and pivot tables
  • FileMaker and Tableau skills
  • Familiar with Web metrics (front end) and Web analytics (back end)
  • Strong experience with Third Party Ad Servers—Atlas is our current vendor and with Omniture and other Web Analytics programs
  • An understanding of Multiple Attribution and Search Analytics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to sell the benefits of analytics externally
  • A creative thinker and able to continually identify and evaluate new approaches to analytics to keep the company ahead of the curve
  • Proficiency in C and C++ languages is desirable

Media Analytics

You will understand how to use a wide variety of web analytic systems, extract the correct data from these systems, diagnose any problems with the configuration and setup of these programs, and interpret the results correctly to help clients meet and exceed their objectives. Additionally you understand how to setup media tracking codes and how cookie based tracking systems work.

Required: Use and understanding of industry standard web analytic systems (Omniture SiteCatalyst, Google Analytics, WebTrends) and corresponding advertising systems (DART/DoubleClick, Atlas, Eyeblaster, Eyewonder)

Great: Advanced use of above tools including deeper dives with the Google API, Omniture Discover, or similar data exploration programs.

Excellent: Extraction and analysis of raw log data from above systems via APIs, data extraction tools and use of this data to create custom models for clients.

Databases

Understanding of database systems is crucial. At the minimum you have worked with loading data into databases and running queries against the data in real world scenarios.

Required: Understanding of database systems like Microsoft Access, Filemaker, Excel VLookup Tables

Great: Knowledge of SQL databases and how to run complex queries against the data (MySQL, Oracle, SQLServer, etc)

Excellent: Knowledge of cloud computing and running large scale data processing tasks (Hadoop, Amazon SimpleDB, Google AppEngine, Map/Reduce programming)

Data Visualization

You understand how to take data and plot it out visually to generate the correct chart/graph/scatter plot etc that is appropriate to the data source being analyzed -- and how to interpret these charts for advertising & media data.

Required: How to generate charts and graphs in Excel and similar programs

Great: Use of advanced data visualization programs like Tableau, R, MATLAB

Excellent: You code your own tools for visualization.

Programming/Code

You understand how to look at the source code of a website to inspect setup of javascript and pixel based analytic systems. You are familiar with web development tools and basic HTML/CSS/Javascript. 

Required: Basic HTML, CSS, & Javascript

Great: Use of scripting languages like Python, Ruby, Perl for data manipulation

Excellent: All of the above + cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, programming against APIs & web services, and other programming awesomeness.

 

Statistics

You should understand core statistical concepts on sample size, statistical validity, regression analysis, standard deviation, etc. The more you know the better.
